Technology has become very advanced and popular in the 21st century. Many people are affected by technology and use it to their advantage everyday. One of the mediums of technology is digital writing. In the article "Why Digital Writing Matters", there are many different definitions for digital writing, but the generally accepted idea is that creative writing for multimedia purposes that is created from computer software. Today, many forms of media is consumed on phones, computers, television, etc. and many people use these mediums to consume information. It is widely believed that many parents and older people do not approve the use of computers, but that is not the case, as the article shows that parents believe it is valuable to learn how to properly use a computer at a young age. Some concerns the article brings up is using computers will lead to laziness and bad form in techniques such as writing and reading. However, they also know that the same techniques are being improved, through better creativity and ease of proofreading.

One of the reasons why I believe digital writing matters is that it helps communicate ideas and information. There is so much information out on the Internet and it is almost impossible to absorb all the topics and ideas that are out there. Many people condense that information or communicate in an easier manner through mediums such as blogging and videos. These summaries are often key to helping spread information around and educate the general population. Another reason why digital writing is important is the accessibility and material costs. Obviously, the information online is much easier to access than compared to a newspaper or a book. There are many online libraries that exist to help aid in the search and organization of information. In terms of costs, it is vastly cheaper to post something online compared to the material costs and time it takes to print out information. Obviously, there are costs like an ISP and owning a device that can access the internet, but it is still cheaper compared to owning hard copies of information. Another reason for digital writing is to publicize and spread content that is originally created. Lots of videos, articles, blogs, and other forms of media are often used to create entertainment, critically reviewed things, and other things. This is important since people are again communicating ideas with each other and learn lots of things, but also can see opinions and views about certain topics.

In a Forbes articles ( https://www.forbes.com/sites/danielnewman/2017/04/25/top-six-digital-transformation-trends-in-media-and-entertainment/#2021476f6729 ) that brings up six different transformations in media and entertainment, the ideas that are currently trending in technology are being mentioned. One of the six topics the writer mentions is the advancement of A.I., or artificial intelligence, a trending topic in general. The writer mentions that the budget for A.I. development will reach around $30 billion in the year of 2025. The reason why development is important for A.I. is the ease of labor mainly and digital writing is no exception. One of the examples the writer brings up is the use of A.I. in the entertainment field, where the A.I. creates its own movie trailer based on the collective work of people previously. On one hand, the A.I. developing its own trailers for movies sound great and cheaper, as a director would not have to spend money and time working on a trailer. This would allow for more creative expression and lessen workloads on the CGI artists, story writers, and anyone else that would be working on a trailer. On the other hand, however, the A.I. may also hinder creative expression. Creating new material is based on material that existed beforehand and, if an A.I. program creates trailers based on that work, people will soon run out of ideas to create new and original work. Content would soon be more challenging to create originally and would work the creative minds a lot harder. Topics like these are important to discuss, as A.I.s are applicable anywhere outside the digital writing community and raises a lot of questions about it.
